Understanding the Client

A leading consulting firm wanted to quickly and comprehensively assess the readiness of large organizations to meet challenges of the New Economy. Far beyond the benefits of traditional surveys, practice leaders were seeking a state-of-the-art solution that would position and differentiate their approach and position in the marketplace. Consultants also wanted to utilize a combination of research and experiential findings to define a precise set of performance drivers, business factors, and behaviors that would form the foundation of this new Assessment System.

An LIS team spent several days understanding requirements, strategies and objectives. The recommended solution was a turnkey approach that would simplify the entire assessment process, replace the need for six separate vendors, significantly reduce turnaround time and deliver an integrated product ready for use by consultants and analysts. During a short 15-day cycle, LIS staff collaborated with practice experts to define a model that included 6 performance drivers, 26 business factors and a 100-item assessment instrument. Within four weeks, data collection websites, instructions for completing the assessment, respondent solicitation letters, and a custom data analysis and presentation tool were designed, reviewed, quality assured, and introduced at the firm’s once-a-year thought leader conference. Compelling visualizations of multi-dimensional performance gaps were designed to quickly communicate the impact of findings to clients. Each time this tool is sold by the consulting firm, LIS is contacted to publish and host data collection websites, process results, and deliver CD’s that include software for data analysis and interactive presentation of results.
